Truck Type Tractors General Safe Operation




TRUCK TYPE TRACTOR OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS




  • Are you competent to drive truck type tractor ?  
  • If you´re not familiarized with the model ensure you´ve read the manufacturer instructions before operating.
  • In any case the machine must be used according to the manufacturer instructions.
  • The maintenance must be performed according to the official manufacturer service (usually included in the manufacturer instructions).
  •  Keep your machine clean of grease and oil in particular access to it.
  • Prior to start check undercarriage condition and inspect for leaks or physical damages. 
  •  Use the means provided for access and use both hands for support.
  • Adjust the seat belt and seat position, fire extinguishers, check oil levels,  clean glasses and check the control board lights.
  • Ensure you know the traffic plan of mine or installation and follow it.
  • Work areas must be restricted, otherwise contact with your supervisor.
  • Always ensure your work area is clear of other machinery or personnel.
  •  Due to the possibility of overturning in this kind of machines, these tractors must be fitted with Rollover Protection System. 
  • Truck tractor must be operated carefully in slopes,avoiding travelling sideways, in a manner that increase the likelihood of overturning.
  •  For moving keep the blade as low as possible.
  • Keep the work areas clean of rocks or obstacles where trucks or machinery can be damaged.
  • Prior to start the work in a new area or shift, inspect the area checking unstable areas, above all in disposals and stockpiles, and after rains.
  • In disposals or stockpiles, do berms or barriers to prevent the access of haulage trucks to the unstable or hazardous areas.
  • In case of congested work areas or narrow work areas (land fills or located fills), request to your Supervisor signalers or assistant personnel to lead the manoeuvres.
  • In the work of clearing, before starting to clear in rugged areas of dense vegetation, inspect the area for potential risks like pits, cracks, etc.  
  • When possible work down the slope. 
  • Always park the machine in a flat and  safe area, out of the work area of other machines.
